Lunch ($15), catered by Dominos Pizza, will be provided as Andrew Booth, PE, PTOE (Horrocks) presents Driving Different: Traffic and Safety Lessons from Australia and the U.S.

Australia and the United States face many of the same transportation challenges but often approach them in very different ways. Drawing on his professional and personal experience working in both countries, Andrew will explore differences in traffic operations and safety practices, including speed management, roundabouts, ramp metering, transit, enforcement, driving culture, and safety performance.

Rather than advocating for one country's approach over the other, the presentation will examine why different practices have developed and what transportation professionals can learn from them. Attendees will gain insight into how engineering decisions, policy choices, and cultural expectations influence driver behavior, traffic operations, and safety outcomes, while considering practices from Australia that may have applications in the United States.
