September Presentation with Dr. Alyssa Ryan
Red Light Running Cameras: A Case Study in the City of Phoenix
Bio:
Dr. Alyssa Ryan is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Architectural Engineering & Mechanics at the University of Arizona and Assistant Director of the Center for Applied Transportation Sciences within the College of Engineering. Her research group focuses on leveraging advanced technologies and data analytics to address the safety, economic, and equity challenges faced by transportation agencies.

Abstract:
This project presents a comprehensive case study on the use of automated enforcement, specifically red-light running cameras, in the City of Phoenix. The study explores how these cameras impacted intersection safety by analyzing crash data before, during, and after their implementation. I will present the effectiveness of automated enforcement in reducing severe collisions, such as right-angle crashes, and its overall impact on driver behavior.
