Candidate for ITE Arizona Section President

Diahn L. Swartz, PE, PTOE

I am pleased to be a candidate for President of the Arizona Section of ITE - a Community of Transportation Professionals.   As president, I pledge to focus on “community,” and how there are many diverse professionals that contribute to mobility and enrich our understanding of what is possible.

I have been a registered professional engineer in the state of Arizona since 2001, and a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer for almost as long.  For the last seven years, I have worked for the Town of Marana gaining experience in operations and development.  Prior to Marana, I worked for the City of Tucson for 14 years, with a focus on signing/marking and traffic safety.

For the last 26 years, I have been active with the ITE Southern Arizona Chapter, or SAITE.  I continue to help the SAITE board with its scholarship, recognizing outstanding members, and helping arrange SAITE’s monthly meetings.

I am an unabashed questioner, which can be pretty annoying.  But I am enthusiastic to learn what other professionals are doing and how we can all collaborate to provide safe, equitable and efficient transportation options.  As president, I will channel this curiosity toward identifying thought-provoking technical programs that offer Professional Development Hours (PDHs).

Greg Wise, PE

As an active ITE member since 2022, I am looking forward to serving you all as your Treasurer for Arizona ITE in 2027. I first got involved with ITE that year when I took on the role as my employer’s (Parsons) Tempe office representative by regularly attending happy hours, technical luncheons, young professional events, and the annual Spring Conference.
That has given me the opportunity to form relationships with our members, which include other consultants and potential clients. Since 2024, I have served on the planning
committee for the Spring Conference. There I learned what type of outreach is given to all our members to give them the best possible networking experience over the two days.
If given the opportunity to be your treasurer, it would be my goal to continue forming relationships with our members to give them the best networking opportunities we can at
not only the annual Spring Conference but at the happy hours, technical luncheons, and other social events that ITE Arizona plans. As a practicing Roadway/Traffic engineer who prides himself on detail orientation, I am the right candidate for the Treasurer role.
As for my background, I have been a Roadway/Traffic Engineer at Parsons since 2019 and an active Professional Engineer in Arizona since 2022. I received my BS in Civil Engineering
at Seattle University in 2016 and my MS in Civil, Environmental, and Sustainable Engineering from Arizona State University in 2019. Outside of work, you can find me at the
pickleball courts, the golf course, or in my kitchen perfecting my home-cooked recipes. I also enjoy travelling, especially exploring new cities, places to eat, and MLB ballparks.
