Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Assistant Town Traffic Engineer. The Assistant Town Traffic Engineer reports to the Town Traffic Engineer. The primary job duties of this position include:- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate professional and technical support staff;
- Coordinate and oversee traffic engineering work activities, assign projects, monitor work progress, and review completed work for accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with the Development Services Department throughout the development processes; provide technical reviews of plats and development plans to evaluate traffic impacts, site access, internal circulation, and traffic control strategies.
- Oversee and conduct in-depth Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) for new developments or those performed by staff to determine necessary infrastructure mitigations and capacity improvements.
- Provide traffic engineering expertise for the review and development of CIP plans to ensure compliance with current safety and design standards.
- Review, investigate, and respond to traffic-related requests and inquiries related to neighborhoods, signing requests, speed limits, traffic control changes, or other traffic safety issues.
- Collaborate with Traffic Signal crews and Traffic Operations services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation Engineering;
- 8+ years of experience in traffic engineering, operations and planning, traffic related studies, signing and striping plans, traffic signal design and traffic control;
- 3 years of supervisory experience;
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Valid AZ Driver's License;
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
Physical Demands and Working Conditions for this position include:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
