The Mountain District is presenting an exceptional slate of candidates for the 2027 Executive Committee. Online voting will begin Monday, June 15, 2026 and will close Friday, July 17, 2026 at 10:00 PM MDT. Members of ITE with a valid email address on file with International Headquarters as of June 1st will receive an email message with instructions on how to vote electronically. Thanks for helping the Mountain District serve our members with these dedicated officers! Look forward to hearing the Secretary-Treasurer candidates’ speeches at the upcoming 2026 Mountain District Annual Meeting.

Hello ITE Mountain District! It’s truly an honor to be nominated as a candidate for President of the ITE Mountain District. Having been involved with ITE since graduate school and throughout my entire career, I’m eager to continue in leadership at the district level and continue building on our success.

Professionally, I am the principal airport transportation planner for Denver International Airport in Colorado. I specialize in bridging the gap between urban design, planning, and traffic engineering. I graduated with a bachelor’s in civil engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and earned my master’s in transportation engineering at the University of Colorado Denver.

As someone who failed my driver’s permit test at the age of 15 and high-centered the driver’s education test vehicle (whoops!), I quickly realized transportation and safety were critical to our everyday lives- and is often overlooked. My goal is to help communities move in a safer, more sustainable manner.

My previous ITE experience includes:

  • Past President of CO/WY ITE Section
  • Mountain District: Section Representative for CO/WY Section
  • CO/WY ITE: Activities Chair, Student Chapter Liaison, Social Media Chair, Mentoring Committee Volunteer/Mentor, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee Member
  • CU Denver ITE Student Chapter Vice President

Outside of ITE, I’m also actively on boards and committee with the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Colorado, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE), Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) and Asian Girls Ignite. With each organization or group that I’m part of, I also bring experiences to share with one-another, whether it’s a logistical tip or diverse perspective. In my free time, you can likely find me trail running and skiing, devouring dim sum and boba tea, and visiting the hippos at the zoo.

Thanks so much for your consideration as President and I look forward to continuing to serve the ITE Mountain District!

2027 ITE Mountain District Vice President Candidate – Kordel Braley

It has been a pleasure serving on the ITE Mountain District Executive Committee over the past six months as Secretary-Treasurer. During that time, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the incredible work our members are doing to advance the profession, support their communities, and provide meaningful mentorship and service to others.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be nominated for Vice President for 2027 and would appreciate your continued support.

2027 ITE Mountain District Secretary-Treasurer Candidate – Carl Vermillion

Since my beginnings as a young ITE member over 10 years ago, I have grown a deep appreciation for this organization and the many friendships and valuable support it has provided in my professional journey. I am honored to have been nominated by my peers as a candidate for Secretary/ Treasurer for the Mountain District.

My ITE journey started as a young member fresh out of school with a bachelor’s in civil engineering in hand. Several years later I was encouraged to run for the New Mexico section board secretary/treasurer. I had the opportunity to serve on the section board for several years and was later excited to continue serving as the current New Mexico section representatives. During that time, I also volunteered on the local arrangements committee for the 2025 Mountain District Annual Meeting. During my time with the two most recent opportunities, I had a front row seat to witness the organization of the Mountain District Executive Committee and felt drawn to continue serving the members of the ITE Mountain District in some capacity. I value ITE’s role in connecting professionals from across states, disciplines, and career stages with students to bring the industry forward to continued success.

I reflect on times that I had at a young age shooting hoops at the end of a cul-de-sac, or riding bikes around the neighborhood. Now as a father, longing for the next generation to have similar experiences with increased safety for the public, for families, and for all.

Similarly, the Mountain District started just a few short years ago and is full of opportunity and potential for the next generation. I pledge to advocate for the dreams that our district founders created in 2020. This includes membership growth and activity, promoting inclusion, and enhancing opportunities for the district, sections, and student chapters to share resources and mentorship opportunities in our region and as an international organization. I wish to honor ITE as they support active transportation through initiatives like complete streets, traffic calming, micromobility facilities, and pedestrian safety.

When I think about the future of ITE, I see the next generation carrying the torch of initiatives and successes of our organization. Fostering connections between students and professionals is key to the future of ITE.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to serve the ITE Mountain District as Secretary/Treasurer and look forward to activity in this professional organization.

2027 ITE Mountain District Secretary-Treasurer Candidate – Anabel Hernandez

It is an honor to be nominated as a candidate for Secretary‑Treasurer of the ITE Mountain District. Since joining ITE in 2020, the organization has played a pivotal role in my professional growth, leadership development, and connection to an incredible community of transportation professionals. I am excited for the opportunity to continue giving back and to support the ongoing success and stability of our District.

Within ITE, I have been fortunate to serve in leadership roles in the Nevada Section and at the district level. I am currently serving as Past President of the Nevada Section, following terms as President, Vice President, Nevada Section Representative, and Community Outreach Chair. In these roles, I worked collaboratively with board members to improve engagement and long‑term sustainability across the Section. At the district level, I have served as the Mountain District Mentorship Program Coordinator since 2022 (under the Student and Younger Members Committee), leading the development and facilitation of the program that has successfully connected over 32 mentor‑mentee teams across the District. The collaboration and partnership that ITE offers led me to be awarded the 2025 ITE Mountain District Rising Star Award and to be recognized as an ITE Young Leader to Follow.

As Secretary‑Treasurer, I want to apply the skills learned in the 2026 LeadershipITE program to make further impacts within the District. Three key areas I would like to focus on as Secretary-Treasurer include:

  • Membership: Increase member retention by collaborating with partners across the District to provide meaningful and engaging activities for all members. Engage with students and continue to provide mentorship opportunities to develop leadership skills to support the next generation of transportation professionals.
  • Collaboration between Sections: Work with sections to offer virtual events where sections can meet to exchange ideas and host fun events to increase networking opportunities across the District.
  • Continuity and Growth: Work with the District’s Executive Board to maintain strong institutional knowledge to help the District build on its successes while adapting to future needs.

ITE has provided me with mentorship, leadership opportunities, and a sense of community that I value deeply as a transportation engineer. I am committed to supporting our members, strengthening collaboration across sections, and ensuring the Mountain District’s growth so that current and future members feel supported throughout their careers.

I would be honored to serve as your Secretary‑Treasurer and appreciate your consideration and support!
