President's Update - October 2025

Posted by [email protected] on Oct. 1, 2025  /  Mountain District Executive Update  /   0

Dear Mountain District Members,

As we move into October, I hope you’ve all had a chance to recharge from summer and are ready for the busy fall season ahead. While this month is a bit quieter for District-wide initiatives, there are still many opportunities to stay engaged with your local Section and with the broader ITE community.

Upcoming Events

I want to highlight the upcoming ITE Joint Section (CO/WY, ID, and MT) Conference. The event will be October 15-16, 2025, in Jackson, WY. We’ve received questions about whether members from outside the host Sections are welcome. The answer is a resounding yes—anyone and everyone is welcome! This is a great chance to connect with colleagues in a beautiful setting, and I encourage you to consider making the trip if you can. More information and registration details are available here: Jackson Meeting Information.

Executive Committee Fall Leadership Retreat

On October 23–24, 2025, our Executive Committee will gather in Flagstaff, AZ for the annual fall leadership retreat. This meeting is an important opportunity to set priorities for 2026, strengthen support for Sections and student chapters, and continue building inclusive leadership pathways for our District.

New Members

Each month, we continue to grow our community with new members who bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Please join me in welcoming our newest Mountain District members! Your involvement is what makes this District thrive, and I look forward to meeting many of you in the near future.

Looking Ahead

Although things are a little quieter now, we’re already looking toward 2026. Planning is underway for next year’s District Annual Meeting in Flagstaff, AZ, June 10–12, 2026, and we’ll have more details to share in the coming months. In the meantime, I encourage you to stay engaged in your Sections, keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities, and continue fostering the collaborative spirit that defines our District.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our profession and to each other.

Best Regards,
Chris Sobie, PE, PTOE, PMP
President, ITE Mountain District
