Mountain District Members,

As we move into February, I’m excited about the opportunities ahead for our Mountain District community. This year is shaping up to be an incredible one, and I encourage all of you to get involved and take full advantage of what’s coming.

First and foremost, registration for our 2025 Mountain District Annual Meeting in Santa Fe, NM, will open this week! This event, held at the Eldorado Hotel and Spa from June 4-6, 2025, will be a fantastic opportunity to network, learn, and collaborate with fellow professionals. We’re also thrilled to announce that the Standing Committee on Traffic Signal Systems (ACP25) of the Transportation Research Board will be co-locating their 2025 Summer Meeting with our event, making this gathering even more impactful. Additionally, our Mountain District Student Leadership Summit will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting, providing students and young professionals a valuable platform to engage with industry leaders. I encourage everyone to register soon and be part of this unique experience! More details can be found here: Mountain District Annual Meeting.

In addition to our meeting, I’m excited to share that the call for nominations for our Mountain District Awards is now open! This is an opportunity to recognize outstanding achievements in transportation and to celebrate the impactful work being done across our District. This year, there is a new category in the Transportation Achievement Awards for Individuals. This award highlights individuals who have demonstrated excellence in transportation in the past year, whether through developing innovative concepts, leading transformative projects, or advancing safety and efficiency in transportation. The deadline for submission is March 1st, so don’t wait!

If you know someone deserving of this honor, I encourage you to submit a nomination. Recognizing the hard work and dedication of our peers is an essential part of fostering professional growth in our industry. Our Mountain District award winners are submitted for consideration for ITE International Awards, providing further recognition at a global level. The deadline for award nominations is March 1, so don’t miss this chance to highlight excellence in our community. More information on the awards and submission process can be found here: Mountain District Awards.

I look forward to seeing many of you in Santa Fe and celebrating our shared successes throughout the year. Let’s make 2025 a year of collaboration, recognition, and progress!

Warm regards,

Chris Sobie
President, ITE Mountain District
