The ITE International Board of Direction (IBOD) held a two-day meeting at the ITE Headquarters offices in Washington, DC. The gathering included some dedicated orientation time for incoming IBOD members set to begin their terms in January, as well as a dinner event where outgoing IBOD members had a chance to thank their fellow members and celebrate their three years of success. The meetings took place November 14th through the 16th.
During the official IBOD meeting, the Board took several important actions:
- The IBOD has approved the Brand Evolution recommendations, incorporating refinements based on extensive feedback from DSCs, Councils and Committees, and Brand Evolution Liaisons. This approval reflects the culmination of a thoughtful and inclusive process to ensure that ITE's future Brand Guidelines align with the diverse needs and perspectives of our community. With the Brand Evolution recommendations now approved, we are moving forward to the next step: Developing the actual Brand Guidelines, Implementation Plan, and Outreach Materials to support the transition. This was a key initiative in the 2024-2026 Strategic Plan.
- The Board approved the Safety Roadmap and Action Plan, another key initiative from our 2024-2026 Strategic Plan. This document not only outlines a number of existing initiatives that have been highly successful but proposes nearly two dozen new initiatives to be pursued in the next few years, with the end goal of cultivating a culture shift that prioritizes roadway safety throughout our industry and beyond.
- The Board approved a provisional 2025 budget, with the understanding that a final budget would be brought for review and approval at the January IBOD meeting. It was noted that 2025 will be an unusual financial year where the organization invests in the development of a replacement for its aging member management software and tools.
- The Board approved a charter for a new Student Chapter at the Colorado School of Mines.
- The Board approved recommendations from the Nominating Committee to adopt the slate of candidates for VP for the 2026 Election as Neelam Dorman and Hardik Shah. The general membership was notified in the all member forum on Monday, November 25th.
Other significant updates included:
- Creation of a Leadership task force, which will be looking at best practices for DSCs regarding governance, volunteer burnout, successful recruitment of volunteers, succession planning, etc.
- Discussion on the future of the Trip Generation Manual, with emphasis on data collection and analysis of several new use case scenarios and the planned update to a 12th Edition planned for launch on August 1, 2025.
- The Missouri Valley District and Mid Colonial District have both identified candidates for their retiring District Administrators.
- With the conclusion of the MCDITE Student Leadership Summit going on at the same time as the IBOD meeting, ITE Districts supported a record seven (7) Student Leadership Summits in 2024!

- July 19-22, 2026 – Detroit, MI (Great Lakes District)
