The ITE International Board of Direction (IBOD) held a 1-day meeting coincident with the Joint ITE and Mid Colonial District Annual Meeting and Exhibit.  The IBOD meeting took place on July 19-20 at the Marriott Downtown in Philadelphia, PA.

The Board took several important actions:

  • Reviewed and approved updates made to ITE’s Canon of Ethics, incorporating updated language on fairness/harassment/discrimination, and updated language emphasizing safety and vulnerable road users.
  • The Board approved the audit of 2023 finances (unqualified audit – no concerns) and received an update on financial performance for 2024 showing everything still on-track per the budget.
  • Received important updates on the Brand Evolution initiative, including feedback from the 10 listening sessions held in May/June and details of the brand audit that highlighted the many inconsistencies that currently exist in naming conventions and visual identities (logos).
  • The Board approved a charter for a new Student Chapter at the Northern Arizona University, and the charter for a Student Chapter at the University of Dayton.

Significant updates included:

  • Discussion on the future of the Traffic Bowl, and feedback from members that included incremental suggestions as well as additional competitions that could potentially be grouped under the umbrella of a singular transportation bowl series of tournaments.
  • Request for Trip Generation data, as ITE staff and members are preparing for a mid-2025 release of an updated Trip Generation Manual.  A competition was launched to provide gift cards to the top 5 individual submitters of data.
  • Additional updates on the strategic plan initiative to develop a Safety Roadmap, and the results of listening sessions that produced roughly 35 potential actions/projects that could begin moving forward.
  • A robust conversation on social media platforms available for reaching students and young members – what is working and what isn’t.
  • Discussion on frequency of District and Section leadership meetings, and methods for enhancing connectivity
  • Mid Colonial District planning a student leadership summit for Nov 15 at Penn State
  • The Toronto Section is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary this December
