President's Update - August 2024

Hello Mountain District Members!

I hope you had a chance to attend another amazing Mountain District Annual Meeting in Big Sky, Montana last month.  The venue and weather were amazing and I would once again like to thank Dillon McClain and the rest of the LAC for organizing such a great meeting.  Our membership continues to find significant value in these events, not only for showcasing the beauty we are fortunate to have in the varied geography of the Mountain District, but in the technical content and amazing vendors and sponsors we have which made these events so successful.  With over 253 attendees, 10% of which were student members, 52 technical sessions and 8 group and student activities, there was plenty of great content and networking opportunities for everyone, including our first District Meeting service activity, the Moving Mountains Blood Drive.  The LAC did a great job managing the financials and, while they’re still paying the final bills, it looks like they came in very close to their planned budget, which is only possible thanks to the contributions of our attendees and our sponsors and exhibitors.  Thank you all for your continued support!

With another successful District Annual Meeting behind us, we’re already looking forward to 2025 and our next meeting June 4-6 at the El Dorado Hotel and Spa in picturesque Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Information is already available online, so please block out your calendar now and plan to attend.

I am also excited to share the results of our recent election.  The Tellers Committee met August 1st to tabulate the ballots and provided the following certified results, which have been approved by the Executive Committee:

  • Mountain District President – Chris Sobie
  • Mountain District Vice President – Lindsay Saner
  • Mountain District Secretary/Treasurer – Lisa Nguyen

We extend our appreciation and thanks to Lee Cabell for his willingness to run and, although not elected to the Executive Committee this year, we look forward to his continued service to ITE at both the Section and District levels.

Please join me in congratulating our 2025 leadership and thank you for your continued support of the ITE Mountain District!

David Lucas
2024 ITE Mountain District President
