Join us for the first joint AZITE/SAITE meeting to be held in the Tucson region on Thursday, July 25!  The meeting will start at 11:30 am for networking and lunch, and our featured presentation will begin at noon.  As transportation officials (and for those who may be parents with school-age children), we are all acutely aware of the transportation challenges schools face.  Our speakers will discuss those challenges and what they do to keep students and staff safe on a daily basis.

Presenters’ Bios:

Mark Goligoski is the Assistant Superintendent of Operations for the Marana Unified School District. He earned his bachelor's degree in History/Secondary Education with a minor in Political Science from Northern Arizona University. Mark dedicated the first half of his career in education teaching middle and high school US History, World History, US and AZ Government, and AP Government. After obtaining a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, he has served as a high school athletic director and a middle and high school principal. Now in his twenty-fifth year in education, Mark has the honor of collaborating with many of MUSD's operation departments that include Safety and Security, Facilities, Transportation, Technology, Athletics, and Career and Technical Education. Steven Johnson is Safety and Security Coordinator for the Marana Unified School District, and was a Sergeant with the Marana Police Department when he retired in 2022 after 26 years of distinguished service.

Presentation Description:

Mark and Steven will facilitate a discussion on the current safety and security challenges facing the Marana Unified School District (MUSD) bus drivers. They will delve into the comprehensive training and preparation programs designed to ensure the safe transportation of students. Additionally, Mark and Steven will share procedures that have been adopted by the schools to promote safety for families who provide their own transportation as well as students who commute independently. MUSD has always placed student and staff safety as a primary responsibility and look forward to sharing the policies and procedures that have been adopted by the district with you.
