LAC Chair Update - July 2024

Mountain District Members and Friends,
Attendees from the 2024 ITE Mountain District Meeting in Big Sky are still coming down from the high (elevation) that this year’s meeting left us with. June 19-21 in the mountains of Montana left heads spun, stunned, and sunned. The meeting was held in one of the more remote parts of our District.
Highlights from the meeting in Big Sky include:
- Starting the week with 10-inches of snow and ending the week with sunny, 80-degree weather
- A beautiful group hike to nearby Ousel Falls, roaring from the recent melting snowfall
- Our first-ever First-Timer Social spearheaded by the DEI Committee with over 20 attendees
- Over 52 technical sessions and more than 60 speakers representing all corners of the District
- Receiving recognition and support from ITE International with Steve Kuciemba, John Davis, Karen Aspelin, and Ben Waldman in attendance
- Our competitive Annual Mountain District Cornhole Tournament was highly sought-after this year with more interest than available team spots
- Engaging with vendors and exhibitors during our Get Acquainted Vender Social throughout the full vendor atriums
- Unwinding after conference activities for one (or several) late nights at Scissorbills Saloon
- Donating life during the first District meeting service activity – the Moving Mountains Blood Donation Drive
- Supporting all of our student chapters at the Student Chapter Traffic Bowl, including watching BYU extend their champion win streak
- Enjoying the Mountain Music Reception on the deck overlooking Lone Mountain with great food, catching up with old friends, meeting new friends, learning to line dance, and going back for seconds at the smores ice cream dessert bar
- Continuing the thought-provoking Mountain TED Talks
- Taking a breath-taking ride up the newly constructed Big Sky Tram to the peak of Lone Mountain during the technical tour
- Recognizing the achievements, awards, and success of members from across the District at our Annual Awards Luncheon
All these incredible highlights and memories were made possible by the outstanding efforts of the LAC. This year’s LAC, comprised of 15 individuals from the MT Section, volunteered and contributed their time to the success of this meeting. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
We hope you truly enjoyed your time in Big Sky, embraced the Montana vibe, explored the area for the first or fifteenth time, and took in all the sights, sounds, and smells of the mountains. We are thrilled to head south towards the desert in Santa Fe June 4-6 for the 2025 ITE Mountain District Annual Meeting. Mark your calendars and see you again next year!!
