2025 ITE Mountain District President Candidate – Chris Sobie

It is an honor to be nominated for President of the ITE Mountain District. ITE has been my professional organization of choice since I was a student in 2015. I have had the pleasure of serving ITE at the student level, section level, and district level. ITE has continued to provide me with opportunities for growth including being the youngest member of the OneITE Mountain District Sub Task Force in 2019 which was a dedicated group of individuals that helped establish the foundation of the Mountain District.  I am excited for this opportunity to give back to an organization that has become an integral part of my career, provided countless career and personal opportunities, and become the foundation for the relationships I have within our profession.

I am currently serving as the ITE Mountain District Vice President. Previously, I served as the Student and Young Member Committee Chair and the ITE Colorado/Wyoming Section Continuing Education Committee Co-chair. I was also the Northern Arizona University Student Chapter Founder and President in 2015 and the Treasurer-Secretary, Vice President, and President of the New Mexico ITE Section from 2017 to 2019. I am also a proud graduate of LeadershipITE, class of 2020. I was awarded the ITE Western District 2015 Outstanding Student Award and the 2017 Best Paper by a Young Professional Award. I am very proud to have been nominated and awarded the 2022 ITE Mountain District Young Member Rising Star Award.

Through my role as the ITE Mountain District Student and Young Member Committee Chair, I worked hard to lead the creation and maintenance of our student and young member awards, activities, funding opportunities, traffic bowl, data collection projects, Student Leadership Summit, and the Mentor/Mentee program. I believe our future as an industry and an organization lies with our students and young members. I am always seeking to increase engagement and bridge the gap between our students/young members and our tenured professionals so that all of our ITE members continue to be the leaders in the transportation industry.

I am currently working for Q-free who enthusiastically supports and encourages my involvement in ITE so that I can continue to grow and learn in my career to better serve the traveling public.

I’m excited for this opportunity to serve as President of the Mountain District and I would sincerely appreciate your support.

2025 ITE Mountain District Vice-President Candidate – Lindsay Saner

It is an honor to be a candidate for Vice President of ITE Mountain District.

I have enjoyed my first year on the Executive Committee as Secretary-Treasurer. I’m very proud of what the Mountain District has accomplished in a few short years, and excited to see where we go in the future.

I first joined ITE as a student member back in 2003. After many years as a member of the Nevada Chapter (now Nevada Section), I had the opportunity to serve on the Nevada Chapter Board and as Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee for the 2015 Western District Meeting in Las Vegas. Prior to joining the Executive Committee, I served as Membership Committee Chair of the Mountain District.

I am committed to the growth of our District and creating unique experiences and traditions for our members. I look forward to coordinating more with student and younger members, welcoming new members, strengthening the connection and collaboration between our sections, and establishing new chapters.

As a transportation engineer with a wide variety of safety, multimodal planning, complete streets and traffic analysis project experience, I rely on our ITE Community for continuing education and information on the latest trends and practices in our industry. I am committed to our members’ experience and encouraging others to join ITE for access to these resources and amazing community.

I look forward to serving as Vice President of the Mountain District and appreciate your support!

Hello ITE Mountain District! It’s truly an honor to have been nominated as a candidate for Secretary-Treasurer of the ITE Mountain District. Having been involved with ITE since graduate school and throughout my entire career, I’m eager for the opportunity to step into leadership at the district level and continue building on our success.

Professionally, I am the principal airport transportation planner for Denver International Airport in Colorado. I specialize in bridging the gap between urban design, planning, and traffic engineering. I graduated with a bachelor’s in civil engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and earned my master’s in transportation engineering at the University of Colorado Denver.

As someone who failed my driver’s permit test at the age of 15 and high-centered the driver’s education test vehicle (whoops!), I quickly realized transportation and safety were critical to our everyday lives- and is often overlooked. My goal is to help communities move in a safer, more sustainable manner.

My previous ITE experience includes:
  • Past President of CO/WY ITE Section
  • Mountain District: Section Representative for CO/WY Section
  • CO/WY ITE: Activities Chair, Student Chapter Liaison, Social Media Chair, Mentoring Committee Volunteer/Mentor, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee Member
  • CU Denver ITE Student Chapter Vice President

Bringing my experience with ITE to the district level, I am eager to help with moving the Mountain District Strategic Plan forward.
  • Culture: One of my absolute favorite roles in ITE has been organizing activities and events for our members to connect- whether through hikes and happy hours, ski events, or even virtually through the pandemic. I’m eager to work with our District section representatives and members to build new opportunities to engage, both at the Annual Meeting and throughout the year.
  • Membership: As a transportation engineer turned aviation planner, I’ve had the personal opportunity of working within the transportation planning community. I’m eager to help our District grow its members, including through the planning community and aviation community. Additionally, I’m an avid supporter of students and look forward to engaging with our student chapters and providing them more support through the district.
  • Organization Strength: I am eager to help our sections continue collaborate on events, ideas, membership, sponsorships, and engagement. During my tenue as CO/WY Section Secretary/Treasurer, I led the overhaul of our sponsorship program, resulting in over 200% increase in annual sponsorships, as well as an increase of event access and benefits to our generous sponsors. While this is simply one example, I’m eager to hear and share other ideas in how we can support all sections within the district.

Outside of ITE, I’m also actively on boards and committee with the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Colorado, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE), Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) and Asian Girls Ignite. With each organization or group that I’m part of, I also bring experiences to share with one-another, whether it’s a logistical tip or diverse perspective. In my free time, you can likely find me trail running and skiing, devouring poke bowls and boba tea, and visiting the hippos at the zoo.

Thanks so much for your consideration as secretary-treasurer and I look forward to continuing to serve the ITE Mountain District!

2025 ITE Mountain District Secretary-Treasurer Candidate – Lee Cabell

What’s the best part of being a member of the ITE Mountain District? For me it is the friends I’ve made, attending annual meetings in great locations, interacting with peers at section meetings, and the opportunities for continued learning. I plan to take advantage of these traditions and opportunities for the remainder of my career.

If elected, my main focus would be supporting and implementing the District’s 2024-2026 Strategic Plan in addition to the following two areas that I feel are essential to the long-term success of the District:

  1. Fiscal Responsibility: As the 2023 Annual Meeting LAC Chair, I understand the value of every dollar that each member spends to participate in ITE. Responsible stewardship and wise investments of our funds are essential to the long-term financial stability of the District, providing affordable annual meetings, and delivering quality services.
  2. Member Experience: For the District to remain strong and continue growing, members must have a positive and beneficial experience. These include: 1) providing high quality and affordable annual meetings where members can network, socialize, expand their technical knowledge, and have fun; 2) providing opportunities for members to serve and be involved in their local Section and District committees, initiatives, and activities; and 3) better serving members in the more rural areas by leveraging technology to make it easier for them to participate in Section meetings and activities.

As one of the founding members of the Mountain District Task Force as part of the ONE ITE initiative, I was fortunate to have gained valuable ITE insights and knowledge as I helped establish the District’s structure, governance, goals, and objectives. Through my continued involvement since then, I have been able to keep abreast of the District’s operations, initiatives, and vision.

Other highlights of my 32-year involvement in ITE include:

  • Mountain District
    • Local Arrangements Committee (LAC) Chair for the 2023 Annual Meeting in St. George, UT
    • Annual Meeting Committee (past chair and current member)
    • Principal author of the Mountain District Annual Meeting and LAC Guidance Manual
  • Western District
    • 2015 Annual Meeting (Las Vegas) Finance Chair
    • Public Relations Committee (member)
    • Intermountain Section - President
    • Utah Chapter - President
    • Founding Vice-President of the BYU Student Chapter and later serving as President

Professionally, I am a Principal of Horrocks Engineers with 30+ years of transportation-based engineering experience. I have the full support of my firm to serve as an officer and commit to you, the members, that I will execute my duties to the best of my ability.
