Happy New Year Mountain District Members!!!
2024 marks a significant milestone, as we begin our fifth year as the Mountain District and, as your new President, I couldn’t be prouder of all that has been accomplished in a relatively short time. Much of that success is due to our Past Presidents and I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Danielle Scharf (MT) and appreciate her guidance and outstanding leadership this past year.
Speaking of outstanding leaders, I want to take the opportunity to thank several outgoing Mountain District Board Members for their service and invaluable contributions, starting with Devin Moore (NV), who has been one of our greatest cheerleaders and has such infectious passion for all things ITE. Deanna Haase (AZ), Cody Luper (ID), Anabel Hernandez (NV) and Kordel Braley (UT) have also completed their terms as Section Representatives, doing an exemplary job strengthening our relationship with our Sections.
When the OneITE Rocky Mountain District Subtask Force met in Denver in February 2019 and laid the foundation of what would become the Mountain District, many of those in attendance stepped up as our initial leadership cohort, serving as administrators, directors, officers, section representatives and committee chairs. In keeping with one of our District’s founding goals of increasing leadership opportunities, as this initial cohort moves on, our success has continued as new leaders have stepped up to fill vacancies and keep the momentum going. We are fortunate to have several new incoming leaders taking over critical board and committee roles in 2024 and continue our success into the future.
Our third in-person Mountain District Annual Meeting will be held June 19-21, 2024 in Big Sky, Montana and I would like to thank Dillon McClain and the LAC for all the hard work they’re putting in for another successful annual meeting. The Call for Abstracts is open, but closes January 26th, so I encourage you to submit your idea soon for a presentation or Mountain TED Talk; sponsorship opportunities are also available. It’s a wonderful venue that showcases the natural beauty within our District with many activities available at the Yellowstone Conference Center as well as just a short drive away, so we hope you’ll bring your families and enjoy all that the area offers.
I’m looking forward to serving as your President in 2024 and hope to see you in Big Sky!
David E. Lucas
