President's Update - April 2023

Mountain District Members and Friends,
I’d like to start this message with some inspiring words about the optimism and excitement for the future that comes with the changing season. However, I live in Bozeman, Montana and we have 2 feet of new snow that just fell in the last 2 days. Spring feels like it’s a long way away for me right now, but I know it will get here eventually and I’m excited for the new season.
Regardless of how close we may or may not be to spring, there is a lot to celebrate this month for the Mountain District. Our very own Karen Aspelin was just elected as ITE International Vice President. Our hearty congratulations go out to Karen on this well-deserved accomplishment!
This month we also hosted the first official meeting of the Mountain District’s new Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The board voted unanimously at our Annual Board Meeting last June to form this new committee. The Chair of the committee will be appointed soon, and more information will be available at the upcoming Annual Meeting this summer.
I am also excited to announce that we have signed a contract with Big Sky Resort to hold our 2024 Mountain District Annual Meeting in Big Sky, Montana. Big Sky is located just a short distance from my home in Bozeman, so I am very much looking forward to welcoming you all to Montana in 2024!
