PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Mountain District Members and Friends,

June 21-23, 2023 St. George, Utah is the right time and the right place to gather together!

It has been a whirlwind weekend as I sit to write this President’s Message. At the end of September, I had the pleasure to welcome the Executive Committee to Las Vegas where we had a tri-purpose meeting. A Leadership Retreat, a review of the St. George Conference Venue, and attending our District’s first in-person Student Leadership Summit.

Our Executive Committee met in person in Las Vegas (and traveled up to St. George) to discuss how we’re doing as a District, what we can do to improve, goals for development of our first Strategic Plan, establish our 2023 operating budget, and many more things. There is great value in meeting together in person and the three-day trip yielded many positive outcomes that you will continue to hear about in the coming months.

An on-site visit to the venue (hotel and conference center) for the 2023 ITE Mountain District Meeting in St. George instilled a high level of excitement and optimism for the Executive Committee. St. George is going to be a great meeting and I hope you have June 21-23 in your calendar! Lee Cabell and his Local Arrangements Committee are putting together some great tours, activities, and with your help a strong technical program. We hope you are as excited as we are to gather together again next year to grown and learn from each other.

The Executive Committee was also thrilled to share some time with students from five different universities from throughout our District at the Student Leadership Summit hosted by UNLVite. Their program included multiple technical tours, panels and presentations from both public and private sector professionals, team buildings and networking opportunities, and free time to explore the city. We were encouraged by the thoughtful engagement from our students and the opportunity we had to share our ITE stories and help encourage them in their journey moving forward. The future of our District is bright!

See you in St. George!
