PRESENTATION SUMMARY:
This month's presentation is a joint meeting between SAITE and UAITE. Terry’s presentation will provide an overview of autonomous vehicles (AV) and the relevant taxonomy of these vehicles, and provide an overview of the technology being developed and tested by TuSimple for Autonomous Trucking at its Tucson Operations Center. Finally, he will provide some considerations and introspection for roadway infrastructure priorities, given the proliferation of sensor dependent motor vehicles today and in the future.
TERENCE J. McDONNELL BIO:
Terence J. McDonnell is Law Enforcement Liaison to TuSimple, an Autonomous Trucking Developer based in San Diego, CA, with an extensive Operations Center in Tucson, AZ. He came to TuSimple following a 33+ year career with the New York State Police, where he supervised statewide traffic safety programs for more than two decades. In this capacity, he was responsible for New York’s Autonomous Vehicle Test and Demonstration Permit Process since it was authorized in 2017. In addition, he served on the Autonomous Vehicle Subcommittee of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators for six years, on the Expert Panel on Autonomous Vehicles of the Governor’s Highway Safety Association for 2 years, and is a current and long-standing member of the Roadway Safety Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Pizza and drinks will be provided by SAITE/UAITE during the meeting. Doors will open at 11:30am for lunch and networking, presentation will begin at 12:00pm.
