Job Title: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - TRANSPORTATION
Department: Public Works
Reports To: City Engineer – Public Works
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Status: Full-time; Non-Classified; Safety Sensitive
Pay Grade: 122
SUMMARY
Incumbents will manage and supervise the traffic engineering, traffic operation, and
transportation planning activities; perform professional engineering work in planning,
developing, programming, designing, and directing the transportation plan, transportation
capital improvement projects, traffic engineering, and transportation programs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Exercises supervision of personnel in related area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning or a transportation related
field, and five years of progressively responsible experience in transportation that includes
two years of supervisory experience. Additional education cannot be substituted for
experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license at time of hire. Must have at
time of hire and be able to maintain a State of Arizona Professional Civil Engineer License
(PE) OR by the technical board of another state with the ability to obtain Arizona Registration
through state reciprocity within 6 months of employment.
