PRESENTATION SUMMARY

Mini & Compact Roundabouts: A Cheaper/Safer Way to Deliver Congestion Relief. Mini and compact roundabouts are becoming a frequent solution for improving safety and congestion at traditional all-way stop control intersections. Adam’s presentation will focus on the key objectives of mini and compact roundabouts, how to effectively implement them into a program and examples of how it has been successful throughout the country.

ADAM GOMEZ BIO

Adam joined Kimley-Horn in 2013 after graduating from the University of Arizona, beginning his career as a roadway designer which soon led to becoming an intersection specialist.  His focus for the past four years has been full-time in modern roundabouts.  Agencies are discovering the benefits of compact designs to replace congested all-way stop control intersections in tight space constraints.  Adam has worked with roundabout programs involving development of guidelines and practice for compact designs in Michigan, Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Georgia and Arizona.  He is emerging as a leader in compact roundabout planning and design. Adam currently lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife Alex (UofA alumni) and son “AJ”.
