** This position is a regular, full-time position that is temporarily a remote position, but will be located in the Denver office when it is safe. **

If so, we’re looking for someone like you to join our team as a CIVIL ENGINEERING MANAGER in Toole Design’s Denver office.

As a Civil Engineering Manager, you will collaborate directly with the Denver Office Director and Mountain West and Texas Regional Operations Director. You will independently pursue and manage projects from kick-off to construction, directly manage civil engineering staff, and be supported by engineers in various offices. You will lead business development and project pursuits, assembling teams, preparing proposals, supporting the firm’s quality initiatives, and mentoring our designers.

Requirements

 

  • A Professional Engineering license in CO, or the ability to gain reciprocity quickly (Texas and other Mountain West states is a plus)  
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering 
  • Strong skills in developing construction documents and/or public agency construction administration; most candidates will achieve this in 12-15 years of experience  
  • At least 3 years serving in a project and/or design management role  
  • A broad knowledge base in civil engineering, with specific experience in roadway or highway design,  grading, drainage design, geometric design, and design of accessible public spaces and a desire to mentor staff on these topics 
  • Proficiency in Computer Automated Design (MicroStation, AutoCAD a plus) and 3D modeling (with MicroStation InRoads or Open Roads) 
  • Experience in preparing transportation and local agency permit documents 
  • General experience leading multidisciplinary teams coordinating utility and right-of-way impacts and street lighting, traffic signal, and landscape/hardscape layout 
  • Interest in multimodal and active transportation design 
  • Strong interest in managing staff, business development, and meeting client needs
