Salary Range (depending on experience): $65,769 - $97,170 annually.
Transportation Planning Engineer/Traffic Engineer
The City of Peoria as an exciting job opportunity working as a Transportation Planning Engineer/Traffic Engineer in the Traffic Engineering Division of the Development and Engineering Services Department. This individual will work in every aspect of traffic engineering with a small, but dedicated team. The primary duties of this position include:
- Internal and external customer service
- Development review
- Signing and striping plan review and design
- Traffic observations and studies
- Neighborhood traffic Management
- Project management
- School traffic circulation and maps
- Use of CCTV cameras and basic Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations
This position is primarily office-based, working in Peoria’s TMC, though it does require occasional fieldwork.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent
- Minimum of three years related experience. Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures.
- Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.
The ideal candidate for this position:
Is a registered Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or highly skilled transportation technician or planner with extensive knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other federal traffic engineering guidelines, state statutes, and regional best practices in traffic engineering. The ideal candidate is a detailed oriented problem solver who is capable of working independently as well as a member of a team. Finally, the ideal candidate is a problem solver who enjoys making a difference, identifying safety and operational concerns, developing and implementing solutions, and monitoring after project implementation.
