Salary Range:

Civil Engineer: $70,434 to $95,085 Annually

Sr. Civil Engineer: $82,458 to $111,319 Annually

DESCRIPTION

This position will oversee the review of traffic impact studies, serve as the traffic engineering lead on CIP projects, assist with Vision Zero initiatives, and respond to resident concerns. The position is key to keeping traffic engineering programs on track.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience:

 

Civil Engineer: Requires some directly related engineering experience.

Sr. Civil Engineer: Requires four (4) years of professional civil engineering experience and project management. In addition, two years of increasingly responsible experience in the assigned work area – Capital Improvement Projects, Traffic Engineering, Transportation ITS, Streets Pavement Management, and/or Water and Wastewater Engineering.

Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year).  The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience. 

Education:

Civil Engineer: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a degree related to the core functions of this position.

Sr. Civil Engineer: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related degree.

The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

Civil Engineer:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

 

Sr. Civil Engineer:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer in the State of Arizona.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of initial probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation.  Based on position, referred applicants may be subject to additional testing which may include pre-employment polygraph, physical and drug screening.
