Y2K Engineering is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to support their Denver office. The Sr. Project Engineer is a seller/doer that will be responsible for project management, leadership, and mentorship within the company. This position requires a well-rounded and driven personality, has an entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoys project management, rolling up their sleeves to get the job done and developing new opportunities. This role will be responsible for managing technical and financial aspects of Traffic/Transportation engineering analysis and design projects with a focus on safety and multimodal choice, managing and developing client relationships, and building business development opportunities with existing and new clients in the region.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a focus on Transportation or Traffic Engineering preferred and 6+ years relevant work experience as a Professional Engineer (P.E.). or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, a focus on Transportation or Traffic Engineering preferred and 4+ years relevant work experience as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License required.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, a plus.
  • Road Safety Professional (RSP) Level 1 or 2 certification, a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Performing Project Management duties on traffic/transportation projects, from the start to finish, focusing on scope, schedule, budget and safety. 
  • Execute project performance and budget monitoring & reporting (internally and externally).
  • Responsible for office/location Traffic Impact Studies, Multi-Modal Transportation Studies, Transportation Safety efforts, and Traffic Signal work.
    • Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of project delivery.
    • Manage project teams as developed per project requirements.
    • Provide internal mentoring and leadership to future team members as assigned.
    • Promote company culture, focused on core principles and behaviors representative of Y2K Engineering.
    • Contribute towards growth strategy and project execution for assigned region.
  • Meet with vendors and clients, proactively and often.
  • Develop business relationships with potential customers for all Traffic/Transportation pursuits, working with existing and potential clients, builders, and municipalities.
  • Remain active in the community, attending trade shows, conferences and networking opportunities as necessary.
  • Write letters of agreement for all applicable work.
  • Develop relationships with external firms to provide subcontracted Traffic/Transportation work in the region. Responsible for contract development, review and oversight. 
  • Responsible for writing technical content for proposals, scopes of work, understanding and approach and project resumes.
  • Responsible for maintaining all required certifications for Traffic/Transportation work in the region.

Salary Range (depending on experience): $91,520k - $124,800k annually. Salary and benefits are commensurate with position and qualifications.
