The City of Las Vegas invites applications for Engineering Project Manager for an upcoming vacancy in the Transportation Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. This position coordinates, manages and administers various city engineering programs and projects; prepares and administers the city's five-year capital improvement program; coordinates programs and projects with other city departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible staff assistance to the assigned division manager or section supervisor.

Our ideal candidate

The ideal candidate for Transportation Engineering has experience in applying complex transportation engineering practices and principles to critical, real-time traffic signal system operations and safety applications.  They have experience in exercising supervision over personnel, consultants, and contractors in the development and construction of plans for traffic signals, streetlighting, signing/marking, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) improvements.  The candidate also has experience managing division programs including, but not limited to:

  • Traffic signal operations and optimization
  • ITS management
  • Asset management
  • Temporary traffic control
  • School flashers
  • School crossing guards

 

This individual exhibits exceptional communication and teamwork skills and can serve as the City’s liaison to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation (RTC FAST) and other pertinent organizations.
