Position Overview: The Civil Engineering Department seeks to hire a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative and contribute significantly to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Department (60-80% effort). This will include teaching the Civil Engineering Capstone design course and at least two other classes each semester. Emphasis is on high quality senior design instruction, which will require working with the professional community to procure suitable projects for the capstone design class and to recruit volunteers from the professional community to serve as mentors for students in the capstone design class. For the other two courses, the department is open to all civil engineering focus areas except geotechnical engineering. Optional summer teaching opportunities may be available. In addition, the candidate will contribute to the service mission of the Department (40-20% effort). Service assignments/opportunities will be determined by the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in civil engineering or a related field, teaching experience, professional experience, good communication skills, and involvement in professional organizations in your field. The most competitive candidates will be registered professional civil engineers (PE or SE).
